Atlanta Color Run - Piedmont Park

With gray skies and moist ground lingering from a rainy Friday night, it would have been easy to have slept in this morning. However, approximately 10,000 hit the pavement running as their bodies and clothes are doused with a paint powder at check points along the 5k midtown route that started and finished in Piedmont Park. The Color Run is more about fun and good morale with your fellow runners than competition. The colorful spirit didn't end at the finish line, powder paint clouds hovered over festive runners with dancing, music, and of course... photographs.

31st Annual Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival

The Cherry Blossom Festival in Conyers, GA opened up the Spring Festival season this weekend. The theme of the festival is celebrating the Cherry Blossom Trees donated to America from Japan as a symbol of international friendship.

The festival was held on the grounds of the Georgia International Horse Park, which was also hosting the Atlanta Spring Classic the same day.

Cherry Blossom Festival - Sasha

I'm always instantly inspired by someone's personal style which separates them from the pack. Sometimes this involves mixing and not matching by society's "suburban standard", yet somehow it works. You rarely ever find this in individuals over a certain age due to careers, loss of inspiration and just plain conforming to generic looks that won't "stir the pot".  It is a young persons right of passage I believe to express their passion for music, culture, and art in their appearance.

Sasha is no exception to this unwritten rule. I immediately noticed her upon entering the 31st Annual Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival browsing some handcrafted woodwork with her parents. One look and I knew this is the kind of girl that must confuse the jocks and "mean girls" of her school with her sense of individuality and personal style. The contrast of the rebellious black topped with the Japanese floral kimono-like shawl, which I presume is hand made (unconfirmed), staying in theme of the season and the Japanese Cherry Blossom. All this accessorized with a bamboo collar necklace and vintage-style headphones a top her  60's classic pixie hair cut. Culturally speaking I'm calling this one "West meets East".

More to come from the Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival.

Cameron Adams: "Atlanta Street Fashion" Photographer/Blogger

I arranged to meet with fellow blogger/photographer of Atlanta Street Fashion & Atlanta Bicycle Chic, Cameron Adams this morning in Piedmont Park to photograph my tuned up 1978 Huffy Sea Pines Cruiser that once belonged to my grandfather. He arrived on his vintage 3-speed cruiser and looking rather dapper in his ivy cap. We talked "shop", cycling in the city, fashion (or "style" as I prefer it), and photographing strangers with superb style in a city that is not accustom to street photography like New York or Paris. We intend on changing that with both our similar yet distinct impressions of Atlanta's unique and classic lifestyle from a street perspective.

"St. Patrick as a boy" - ATL St. Patrick's Day Parade

St. Patrick, a rebellious youth from Wales spent his adult life in Ireland serving the nation that captured and enslaved him as a young boy. He used the shamrock to symbolize the holy trinity.

"Springing forward" with the ATL Irish Dance Troupe @ Mac McGee's Irish Pub

With St. Patrick's Day round the corner this week, Atlanta will be exhibiting its prominent Irish pride and heritage at various events around the city this week. Kicking it off today, the ATL Irish Dance Troupe gave a presentation of classic dashed with modern Irish dance at Mac McGee's Irish Pub in Decatur. I spoke briefly with the dashing and devoted Director and Choreographer Jacqueline Berger. Jacqueline, 25 who doesn't look a day over 18 has studied Irish dance since the age of 6. Looking forward to seeing them in the Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday!

Casual Friday?

Atlanta Attorney, Leigh Tyson keeps casual Friday classy in her thrifted navy blue dress and tan leather boots. I really thought sophisticated female attorneys only existed in tacky fictitious television plots.
