The Atlanta Grandmothers for Peace was formed on the 5th anniversary of the
U.S. invasion on
Iraq in March, 2008. Betsy Miklethun and Doris Benit along with 8 other metro
Atlanta women were arrested and detained for 12 hours on March 17, 2008 at a midtown
Atlanta Army Recruiting Center after requesting to enlist in place of young men and women.
