The streets of Atlanta may be my playground. The street for Lola is her home. I see Lola regularly in Downtown Atlanta. She's usually taking in the shade of a tree in Woodruff Park. I took a candid photograph of her back in June. She recently shaved her head after catching lice as a result of sitting under the trees for so long. Nothing about my appeal to photograph Lola is associated with her clothing style. I concluded in my observations of Lola that she is a woman disconnected with modern society and technology. I'm intrigued by her simplicity amongst the hustle and bustsle of daily life for most. She possesses a blissful stare that appears to see through all the b.s. around her. There was a mystique to her that I didn't want to intrude on. I opted to let the mystery be.
Until yesterday... I had a brief encounter with Lola sitting at a table outside of Starbucks on the corner of Peachtree and Luckie. I introduced myself and chatted briefly about what I'm doing. It appears some of my preconceived ideas of her character are true. Here is a result of a quick portrait she approved of me taking. I'm looking forward to more random encounters on the street with Lola.
